Hwarang is probably one of the most watched and loved Korean Drama ever. Each friend of mine who watched this drama fall in love with it instantly. The Story of Hwarang revolves around an group of young men called "Hwarang", who discover their passion, friendship and love in the turmoil of the Silla Kingdom (57 BC–AD 935).
The story starts when from Queen Ji So who has been ruling the Kingdom of Silla as regent since King Beopheung died, keeping her young son Sam maek jong hidden outside of the capital Seorabeol in order to kim hif safe from enemies and assassins. As time passes nobles, citizens, officials and even Sam maek jong himself become impatient to know that whom Queen Ji will pass the power. The powerful nobel are now applying any method to get the power from Queen Ji to them.
In order to break the power of the nobles, who are become more and more power hungry and selfish, Ji So plans to create a new elite group, the Hwarang, that will cut across the existing power factions, and to bind them to protect Sam maek jong and the throne. As this new elite group of male youths starts to grow and make bonds with each other being unaware that within their number is their future king, Sam maek jong, and Kim Seon-u, a commoner with a secret even he is not aware of.

At the start of each episode, We get a flashback to the historical portion of the drama which helps us to learn the back story of our characters. In the past, there is a love story between a human, Dam Ryung, who is a high-rank magistrate, and a mermaid, Se Hwa, which he saves from the peoples who tried to kill her for money. The historical parts unfold bit by bit throughout the drama. Despite the important historical part, the main story is set in the present where their modern-day selves reunite and begin their romance again. "Love is something quite dangerous"

The story revolves around Shi-Jin who is the captain of the special task forces. He catches a motorcycle thief with Sergeant Major when they are enjoying their holidays in their home country. The thief gets injured during his capture and gets admitted to the hospital. Dae-Young who is Sergeant Major realizes that his cellphone was stolen by the thief and then they go to the hospital to retrieve his cellphone. In the hospital, Shi-Jin meets Dr. Mo-Yeon and eventually, He falls in love with her immediately. Mo-Yeon mistakenly thought that Shi-jin belongs to the thief's criminal gang. He proves that he is a soldier with the help of an army doctor named Myeong-Joo. They meet with each other often and begin to date, but due to their busy schedules, the dates don't go well. Then one-day Shi-Jin takes an order to lead his soldiers for a peacekeeping mission to the Uruk. When Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon meet again, they started to talk about their views on each other life and realize how different their jobs are. Shi-Jin, as a soldier, have to kill to protect lives, and Mo-Yeon, as a doctor, tries to save all lives. They say their goodbyes to each other in the thought that they will never see each other. Eight months later, Mo-Yeon is assigned to lead a medical team in Uruk. There, Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon meet again and the love begins once again.
